John’s process is straightforward and suited to your needs. He meets with you at his studio or locale of your choosing to do loose sketches and decide on the pose.
Sittings are generally 2 – 3 hours in length, with 5 – 10 minute breaks as often as you require. The artist prefers not to work from photographs. He will, however, start a portrait from a photograph when absolutely necessary, but only from a photo he has taken himself. Apparel for the portrait should be made available to the artist to aid work when you are not available.
Three months to one year are required for all portrait commissions. Travel and lodging expenses will be paid by the client and billed separately.
You should feel confident and comfortable about making constructive comments or asking questions about the portrait and may arrange to view it at any time while it is being painted.
Feel free to contact the artist for a fee schedule or for any inquiries you may have.
